Xavier Hernandez, Ph.D.

 

Xavier Hernandez, Ph.D., is a management consultant with a passion for partnering with individuals, teams and organizations in reaching their desired outcomes.  Xavier has doctoral level training in Clinical and Industrial/Organizational Psychology as well as progressive experience in leadership development, organizational assessment and development, team building, and group facilitation.  He is skilled in strengths-based approaches for implementing change initiatives including application to performance and talent management.  Xavier is proficient and certified in administering, interpreting, and providing feedback on psychological, individual and organizational assessments and instruments.

Xavier’s approach to executive coaching is to provide the leader with tools necessary to be successful in their job role and daily life.  He integrates assessment feedback with real work experiences as a guide through self-awareness towards goal setting and development planning.  His genuine interest in helping the leader reach their desired outcomes creates an environment that engenders trust and is safe to take risks needed for long term change.  Partnership, alliance, and collaboration are integral to the coaching process that facilitate Xavier’s role to create awareness, understanding, clarity, and integration.  With a balance of support and challenge, he addresses development areas and highlights strengths essential for maneuvering through the leader’s organizational reality.

In addition to coaching, Xavier has extensive experience in developing and managing performance and talent management processes, team building, training and development, qualitative and quantitative evaluation, and leveraging character strengths.  He has extensive experience working with individuals and groups from diverse multicultural backgrounds in leadership and group coaching.  Recent experience includes: managing performance management processes (from goal setting to performance appraisal); leadership coaching and training on the components of trust and utilizing strengths; action learning via group coaching; executive coaching; creating and facilitating training programs for managers and employees on several topics including performance review and professional development planning.  In addition to business and organizational experience, Xavier has substantial experience providing clinical psychological services using a variety of modalities for a variety of clientele.

Xavier earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Human Services at California State University, Fullerton, and his Masters of Science degree in Psychology is from Alliant International University in San Diego, California.  He conducted research in the areas of the Character Strengths and Latino leadership and his findings are compiled in his dissertation entitled, “Character Strengths and Social Axioms for Caucasian and Mexican- American Managers and Non-Managers.”  Xavier received his Doctorate in the Dual Clinical and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Ph.D. program at the California School of Professional Psychology and the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management at Alliant International University.
